As many of us all know, IT IS ENGAGEMENT SEASON!
With Engagement season on the rise, we want to share a venue checklist for those soon to be Husband and Wives to help your planning run smoothly!
When planning a wedding, there are so many things that come up that we usually don’t think about, especially when it comes to choosing your venue. All venues offer different services and have their own set policies!
Here are a couple of things you want to look out for when touring venues:
- Location
- Does the location of the venue suit travel for you and your guests?
- Is the Location close to local restaurants?
- Occupancy
- What is your expected guest count?
- What is the occupancy of the venue you are interested in?
- I can not tell you how many tours I have given where the prospect falls in love with our venue, to later find out their guest count is too high to use the space. Make sure to figure these things out before going to tour a venue.
- Character
- Does the venue have the characteristics you are looking for?
- Does the venue have anything that's a deal breaker?
- For example, if your dream wedding includes you walking down an aisle outside near a pond…make sure that venue has or is near a pond. If your dream wedding is intimate and simple, make sure you aren’t looking into venues that are large with stained glass and marble floors.
- Packages
- When looking into venues make sure to ask about their packages.
- Do the packages work for your needs?
- Some venues offer upgraded chairs and an arch, while others offer the space alone.
- Policies
- You want to be sure to look over all policies the venue may have.
- Ask about their vendor policy.
- Also ask about time for decorating, set up and clean up, and requirements for a coordinator.
- Some vendors require you use a certain list of vendors, while others allow you to choose your own. Decorating time is not always included in the price.
- Audio System
- Make sure microphones, speakers, and projectors are included in your rental.
- Is it easy to have someone else bring these in? Are outlets easily accessible?
- Of course, only if you need these resources.
- Kitchen/Vendor Space
- Make sure to check out the Venue’s kitchen space.
- Is there enough room for caterers to prepare food and drinks?
- Is there room for vendors to store personal items?
These are the most common things you want to ask about BEFORE going to tour a venue! Feel free to print a copy of this checklist to help you during your venue search!
